Walk Out of the Palace of Your Past

By Marina, creator of Alfina · September 2026

A question that stopped me

Recently I listened to a conversation between Joe Rogan and comedian Duncan Trussell. They wandered from psychedelics to quantum computers to a channeled being called Bashar. Then one question stopped me in my tracks:

“What happens if you walk out of the palace of your past?”

Rogan admitted that some of these ideas sound ridiculous on paper. And yet he kept coming back to them. So did I.

The palace we live in

The idea goes like this. Every moment, you arrive in a brand new world. And almost instantly, you paint it over with everything that happened before.

You look at your partner and see last week’s argument. You look at your sister and see the girl who borrowed your sweater at twelve and never gave it back. As they put it in the conversation, the family around you is often “a projection of the family that they had last week.”

It is a comfortable palace. It feels safe and predictable. But it also keeps you inside… and keeps the people you love frozen in who they used to be.

I had this with my mom. I was already in my forties when she said something, and I truly saw her for who she was. It was a huge aha moment… one that still gives me chills now that she is no longer here on planet Earth.

Every choice, a new world

Bashar, the being Darryl Anka says he channels, teaches that we shift into a parallel reality with every choice we make. Each decision, each thought, each way of reacting moves us a little further along a different path.

You don’t have to take that literally to find it useful. Physicists still argue about whether many worlds exist at all, and nobody has shown that our choices move us between them. I treat it as a lens, not a law.

But what a lens it is. Try asking yourself: if this moment is truly new, what would I choose to see in it?

Your habits are your vehicle

Another thought from that conversation stayed with me. Your personality, your identity and your habits are like a vehicle. They decide which roads you can travel and which places you can reach.

Keep the same vehicle and you keep arriving at the same places. Change it, even a little, and new roads open up. Not because the world changed first, but because you did.

This is the quiet heart of the Law of Attraction. We don’t only attract what we want; we attract what we are ready to be.

Try this today

  1. Choose one person you will see today.
  2. Before you meet, notice the story you carry about them. Old hurts, old labels, old expectations.
  3. Set that story down for five minutes. Meet them as they are right now.
  4. Afterwards, write down what you noticed in your Alfina journal. Did they feel different? Did you?

The Cage Opens

“The door was never locked from the outside.”

The palace of your past can start to feel like a cage. This card reminds you that the door has been open all along; the only question is whether you are willing to notice it.

Affirmation for today: I am free to move beyond any boundary I once believed was permanent.
